Crews Respond To Crash Involving School Bus In Seminole County

First responders were on the scene of a rolled over school bus near County Roads 353 and 123 in Seminole County, Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called out to the scene, located about a mile northwest of Seminole State College, just after 3:30 p.m.

The school bus belonged to the Seminole County School District and there were students on the bus at the time of the crash.

The driver, 50-year-old Gayle Goforth, told authorities she became distracted by the students and departed the roadway to the left. The bus overturned and landed on the driver's side in a ravine. 

According to Seminole County Schools Assistant Superintendent, Rhonda Townsend, there were about 15 children on the bus at the time of the crash and none were seriously injured in the crash.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff, all of the injuries associated with this crash were minor. Six students and Goforth were transported to a local hospital. Goforth and five students were treated and released. One student is still hospitalized for observation and is listed in stable condition.

 No other vehicles appear to be involved.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is also assisting in this crash.
