OKC Dodgers Announce Events Leading Up To Opening Day

With start of the 2015 baseball season just over a month away, the Oklahoma City Dodgers have announced “March to Opening Day”—a series of events throughout the month of March leading up to Opening Day on April 9.

“Spring training is in full swing and you can really start to feel the excitement building,” said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes. “Although our games don't start until April, we have a jam-packed schedule in March that will get everyone ready for the season to begin.”

The first major event during “March to Opening Day” is the team's annual job fair March 6-7 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers are seeking multi-talented, highly motivated team players to add to their customer service, food and beverage, and retail operations. The job fair will be in the Legends Lounge from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

March 7 also marks the start of the Oklahoma City Dodgers High School Baseball series. There will be a total of 27 high school baseball games played at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark during March, featuring teams throughout Oklahoma, as well Texas and Kansas.

The OKC Dodgers will have two brand new mascots this season. Beginning March 18, fans will have their say in naming the new mascots and can send their submissions through the team's website and social media. The team will choose the top submissions, at which point fans will vote for their favorite starting March 26.

The return of the highly popular The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City Dodgers National Anthem Tryouts will be March 21 at Penn Square Mall. Pre-registration is now closed after the 200 available slots were filled up in less than a week. Those wishing to tryout can still do so on a standby basis during the event.

Single-game tickets for all 2015 OKC Dodgers games, as well as the Bedlam Series, will go on sale March 24 through the team box office. (Season ticket packages and group tickets are currently available for purchase.)

“March to Opening Day” will culminate with a free event at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for all fans March 28. The day's festivities will include special guest appearances and plenty of family-friendly activities. Fans will also have a chance to sample new concession items and select their seats for the upcoming season.

“We'll have more details about the event soon, but I can say now that it's shaping up to be a really exciting day to show our appreciation to all of our wonderful fans,” Byrnes said.
