TornadoSafe Shelters presented a $10,000 check to American Red Cross on Saturday.

The donation was presented during a Red Cross Readiness Rally in Newcastle, OK, and will support disaster preparedness and response programs in Oklahoma.

“The safety of our neighbors is the number one concern for all of us at TornadoSafe,” said Darrin Humphrey, owner of TornadoSafe Shelters. “It is a privilege to be able to assist our partner, the American Red Cross, to educate the community and remind everyone to make a kit, get a plan and be ready when severe weather strikes.”

“We are honored to receive this donation to benefit preparedness programs and disaster relief efforts following in emergencies in Oklahoma,” stated American Red Cross Regional Executive Officer, Janienne Bella. “Every day trained Red Cross Disaster Responders stand ready around the clock to care for Oklahomans after disasters such as residential fires, storms and winter weather. Support for disaster preparedness by partners like TornadoSafe Shelters ensures our responders remain equipped for the next call for help.”

Newcastle was one of the many communities affected by an EF-5 tornado on May 20, 2013.
