4.1 Magnitude Quake Shakes Up Central Oklahoma

Residents in central Oklahoma may have felt the jolt after a 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook in Logan County, Monday afternoon.

Residents in central Oklahoma may have felt the jolt after a 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook in Logan County, Monday afternoon.

The earthquake struck at approximately 5:22 p.m., six miles to the northeast of Guthrie, or about 33 miles north northeast of the Oklahoma City metro, at a depth of about five miles.

So far there have been no reports of damage or injuries associated with this earthquake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and higher.
