After months of waiting for a Supreme court ruling, Oklahoma will begin to execute inmates on death row.

Richard Glossip is scheduled to be executed next month, but his murder conviction has stirred controversy for years. Now a famous actress is coming to his defense.

Sister Helen Prejean may likely be most well-known anti-death penalty advocate in America. And the woman who played the sister in the movie “Dead Man Walking” is now taking shots at Governor Fallin.

Oscar winning actress Susan Sarandon wants the state to stop the execution of Richard Glossip. Glossip is convicted of the 1997 murder of Barry Van Treese. Glossip was found to be the mastermind of the murder.

But Sarandon said his conviction was a mistake and no one wants to admit to that mistake. So she's calling on the public to reach out to Governor Fallin.

"The governor of Oklahoma is just a horrible person and a woman, so it's even more disturbing in terms of digging in and not wanting to get any more information because being tough on crime means being for the death penalty, somehow that got established. So when you're trying to protect your political career, it's so much more difficult to have three sentences instead of one," said actress Susan Sarandon on Sky News.

We have sat down with the Van Treese family before and both Barry's wife and brother said they just want this whole ordeal to be over, and justice to be served.
