A Carnegie family is counting their blessings Tuesday, after a bullet cut through their sense of security.

Peggy Davis thought a mouse was to blame for the wood chips in her kitchen. But further inspection revealed it wasn't a furry rodent but a fired round.

The gunshot came from across the street.

The Davis' home has 12 inch thick concrete walls, but the bullet hit the wooden frame of the window. It went through an interior wall and through a spice rack in the kitchen before embedding into a back cabinet.

“If we’d been in the kitchen or living room when the bullet went through, it could have hit anyone of us,” said Tom Davis.

“It’s freaky,” added Peggy Davis.

Fortunately, the Davis family was asleep at 3 a.m., when the bullet was fired.

Police said the intoxicated and naked person, who aimlessly fired the shot next door, has been arrested.

Monday, the couple had to evacuate their home because of a police situation at the same home where the gunshot was fired from hours later.
