An Arkansas judge is halting the executions of eight death row inmates after the news that Oklahoma death row inmate Charles Warner was given the wrong execution drug.

This is the first time a stay has been issued in the state in a decade.

A lawyer for the inmates said the new secrecy law puts them at risk of enduring unconstitutional suffering during their executions because the drugs' safety and effectiveness could not be trusted or checked.
