Authorities arrested a juvenile suspect in connection to a carjacking that happened early Friday morning in northwest Oklahoma City, after spotting the stolen vehicle in a McDonald's drive-thru.

According to police, the carjacking happened just before 1 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of Buy For Less, located at N.W. 23rd and Penn. The 16-year-old suspect reportedly flagged down a white Isuzu SUV, claiming he needed a ride.

The driver of the SUV, who police said is also a teenager, offered him a ride. However, it was not long before the suspect pulled out a gun and stole the SUV.

Officers responded to the scene and released a description of the vehicle to surrounding agencies. A short time later, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper spotted the stolen SUV in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant, located at N.W. 23rd and Interstate 235, about two miles from the scene of the carjacking.

Police said it appears the suspect was going through the drive-thru when he was spotted by the OHP trooper.

The juvenile suspect was taken into custody. Police have not released his name.

Meanwhile, the driver of the stolen vehicle was able to get his SUV back.
