One of Oklahoma’s finest staged a surprise for his mother, who is a Midwest Regional Emergency Room Nurse, and who hasn’t seen him in nearly two years.

Army Soldier Brandon Smith, 19, has been stationed in Germany for more than 19 months. However, he recently got three weeks leave time. He just didn’t tell his mom Tammy Smith about it.

Darn kids!

Instead, Smith’s Midwest Regional Co-Nurses and co-workers set up a surprise homecoming in the hospital ER Friday night. Brandon was rolled in on a stretcher, wearing a neck brace. His mother was the nurse assigned to check him in.

The ruse worked to perfection.

Tammy didn’t recognize her son until he rolled off the stretcher and gave her a big hug. Tammy wasn’t too upset about the whole deal however.

“All my friends lying to me,” she laughed with tears in her eyes. “It feels really good for everybody to do this for me. Thank you.”

Tammy Smith’s Supervisors told News 9 they completely supported the charade, because they say Tammy Smith has been an extremely dedicated emergency room nurse, and is well-liked by everybody on staff.
