Gov. Mary Fallin declared a 30-day state of emergency Sunday for all 77 counties due to the winter storms and flooding over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The governor declared the state of emergency because nearly 100,000 homes are still without power Sunday afternoon as a result of the freezing rain, ice and sleet from the storm that started Thursday night.

The state of emergency allows state agencies to make emergency purchases related to disaster relief and preparedness. It is the first step toward seeking federal aid if it is deemed necessary.

Under the executive order, the state of emergency will last for 30 days.
