Oklahoma City police are looking for a man caught on camera robbing a Southwest Oklahoma City motel. That tape shows he had a little help from the inside.

That inside help came from a woman who had worked at the motel for almost three years and had just been promoted to assistant manager. She's now in the Oklahoma County Jail, all because the motel's security cameras caught her talking with the crook minutes before the holdup.

Oklahoma City police arrived to the Sleep Inn Motel off Meridian and I-40 just after 7, and talked with 48-year-old Tonya Thompson and another employee about the robbery that had just taken place.

The video of the robbery shows a large man dressed all in black wearing white gloves running down the stairs and holding up the two hotel clerks at knife point. Thompson can be seen going straight to the register, pulling out cash and envelopes, and then handing them right to the thief.

But when detectives started looking at all the video surveillance collected, they discovered something very interesting from one of the other cameras angles. Camera 3 shows the suspect waiving from the stairwell just minutes before the robbery. And it’s Thompson who walks up to meet with him. Thompson, who was still eating her breakfast, plots with the suspect on when he should make his move.

As Thompson made her way back to the front of the hotel, the suspect waited in the stairwell, and tried to stay in constant contact with her.

Police have identified the large man in black as 32-year-old Aaron Brock. Both he and Thompson have been arrested several times in the past.

So, the question is why would the hotel hire and promote Thompson and give her access to all of the hotel's cash despite her long criminal record which includes seven past arrests for theft?

An employee at the Sleep Inn Motel said she doubts the owners or management ever checked her background.

Court papers released Friday afternoon state Thompson also told officers she embezzled about $8,000 from the hotel and planned the robbery with Brock to try to cover up the crime.

Thompson remains in the Oklahoma County Jail on an $88,000 bond while Brock is still on the run. There is a warrant out for his arrest.

If you know where he is call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
