Stained Glass Cookie Ornaments

2 sticks Braum's unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup sugar

1 large egg, beaten

1/3 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Jolly Rancher hard candies, crushed

In a large mixing bowl beat together the sugar and butter till fluffy, (about 2 minutes). Then add in the egg, almond extract, and salt and continue mixing. Add the flour slowly till it is well combined and forms a dough ball. Place the cookie dough in an airtight bag and flatten into a disk. Place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours to chill.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the cookie dough on a floured board till it is 1/4 inch thick. Cut out the cookies with the cutter of your choice and then use a small cookie cutter in the center to cut out a shape. Place large chunks of the candies in the middle of the cookie and bake for 8 minutes. Once the cookies are removed from the oven, use a toothpick to place a hole in the cookie to allow a string to be strung through for an ornament. Allow the cookies to cool at least five minutes before transferring to parchment lined counter top to cool.
