The family of a Bethany couple involved in a murder-suicide over the weekend said the couple left behind five children.
The kids are struggling to understand what happened.
Sheena and Deandra Harris went for a ride on Saturday and never returned home.
Witnesses reported a crash near NW 39 Expressway and Council Road that afternoon.
“He went through the median, ran over a tree, crossed the east bound and went up over another bunch of stuff and stopped in a parking lot over there, smoke coming out the car,” one 911 caller said.
When Bethany police arrived, they quickly realized Sheena and Deandra had both been shot.
Investigators believe Deandra was driving and shot Sheena, then turned the gun on himself.
Both of them died.
They had been married for 10 years.
Sheena has five children and the three youngest are hers with Deandra.
The kids range from 5 to 17 years old and are now living with Sheena's parents, who are on a fixed income.
Sheena's family did not want to go on camera, but said they never saw this coming.
They said the couple was having financial problems and Deandra had lost his job, but he was supposed to start a new one on Monday.
They believe he was depressed.
The Bethany Fraternal Order of Police has stepped up to help give the Harris's children a Christmas.
The FOP donated money, officers gave out of their own pockets and local business pitched in, too, to let the children know people care about them.
The grandparents need financial help to bury the couple and to support the children.
