A Facebook picture helped the OSBI track down a murder suspect, and now, new court filings lay out the case.
There are several documents detailing different scenarios of this case. However, authorities believe many of those details lead to one person.
"She was just staying here,” said someone working on the roof of the home where court documents say Katherine Hicks lived. “She don't live here."
Hicks has several aliases listed on court document as well as an Oklahoma City address where News 9 visited. It is also where authorities found Hicks after she was charged with first-degree murder.
"What's her connection to the guy who owns this house?" News 9 asked.
"They're just friends,” he said.
Court documents claim Hicks was also friends with Michael Beach, a man she met on Craigslist back in the summer.
"She got in a bad situation with her ex-husband,” he said.
She then started some sort of relationship with Beach until he ended up dead inside his Cordell home.
That is where things get complicated.
Court documents lay out several different versions of what Hicks says happened, but in the end investigators believe she is to blame.
Documents state "Hicks had Beach change his will to add her" and that Hicks gave Beach a milkshake and "it tasted gritty." They also state "Beach told several people he thought Hicks had tried to kill him."
It wasn't long before police got a call to check on Beach inside his home and found his body. He'd been shot and "a 9 mm round was found in Hicks' purse."
The Washita County district attorney filed a first-degree murder charge against Hicks. Hicks is in the Washita County jail Monday night.
