Bob Stoops held his pre-Orange Bowl press conference on Wednesday to discuss Oklahoma’s opponent, top-ranked Clemson.
“Playing Clemson will be a big challenge,” said Stoops. “Offensively everything begins with DeShaun Watson, a super player, and he’s got great weapons around him. There’s not one guy you can try to take away because they’ve got others that’ll hurt you.”
“Brent Venables and that group have put together an excellent defense. Shaq Lawson’s the star of the defense but also Boulware and Alexander and Kearse in the secondary really do an excellent job.”
Stoops didn’t want to spend much time talking about backup quarterback Trevor Knight’s transfer announcement, but he did say Knight was no longer the second-string signal caller.
“Cody Thomas was our backup in the Oklahoma State game and that’s exactly how we’ll do it this game as well.”
Stoops also announced that cornerback Jordan Thomas will play in the Orange Bowl.
