Former Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw was sentenced to 263 years in prison for rape and sexual assault Thursday afternoon.

District Attorney David Prater responded shortly after assuring the public that cases like this are extremely important, and police officers and law enforcement around the country care about these allegations.

“I encourage women to come forward and report this and those that are friends of women who may have been victimized to encourage them to come forward,” said Prater.

Holtzclaw will be serving his 263 years in prison consecutively.
