Choctaw Teacher Arrested, Booked In Oklahoma Co. Jail For Sexual Relationship With Student

Both Choctaw and Oklahoma City Police received a call from school administrators early Friday morning alerting them to a reported affair between a teacher and student at Choctaw High School.

Oklahoma City Police identified the teacher as 24-year-old Austin Quinton. Quinton remained silent and kept his head down low as he waited to be transferred from police custody. This, after spending hours with officers answering questions at police headquarters.

“It became clear very early in the interview process that a crime had indeed occurred,” said Msgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “There was probable cause to believe it occurred. He was placed under arrest for numerous counts of rape in the first degree.”

Quinton's Twitter and Facebook pages state he is a health teacher and assistant wrestling coach at Choctaw High School, and just started teaching there last August.

Police said the reported inappropriate relationship took place between Quinton and a 17-year-old female student at the school, but none of their alleged sexual encounters happened on campus.

“It is unclear exactly how many times this has happened, but it appears it happened inside of Oklahoma City,” said Knight.

Right now, police are not saying where the teacher and teenager met for sex, but told News 9 investigators served a search warrant for permission to search his truck as they continue to gather more evidence and proof that the alleged affair happened.

Right now, police say they only know of one possible victim in this case, but they are investigating if there could be any more that surface in light of the allegations.

The Superintendent for Nicoma Choctaw Schools told News 9 Quinton is no longer employed with the school district, and sent out an email to parents alerting them to the investigation into the reported relationship.
