What makes Oklahoma special? We think it’s got to be the people. And we meet some amazing people in our stories. Here’s another example.
MAKE IT RIGHT.
They say it’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. That’s what Natalee and Shawn Cross do as they save neglected, abused - and some consider insignificant - lives. Shawn and Natalee rescue horses. And their worst call ever came in January, 2015. It was about a horse, down for two days, attacked by dogs, and left for dead. The vet told them she was sure by the way he acted that the nameless horse wanted to live. Natalee and Shawn decided that if he would fight to live they would fight to help. They named him Rudy. His story went around the world with well-wishes coming from as far away as Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. After many long nights, Rudy won his fight to live. And even though he lost his ears, vision in one eye and looks a little odd, the once unloved equine now kicks up his heels with his new best friend, another rescued throwaway. It was a wrong an Oklahoma couple could not let go without doing their best to set it right.
