Highway Shut Down In Carter County Due To Fatal Collision

State Highway 53 in Carter County was shut down late Tuesday night due to a fatality commercial vehicle collision, but has now been reopened.

The one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Texas man. The driver, 40-year-old Brian E. Hill, was pronounced on the scene by the OHP after being pinned for approximately one hour. The accident occurred when the driver departed the road to the right, rolled one half time and struck a fence. 

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the eastbound and westbound lanes between Horse Apple and Pioneer were closed for almost three hours, approximately two miles west of I-35.
