An Army veteran turns hostage taker. We now know Devin Rogers held hostages to negotiate for 10 years in prison.
While Devin Rogers may actually get more or less than 10 years or no jail time at all after his trial, that's the number that ended his standoff with police.

Authorities released surveillance video of Rogers being taken out of the Nextsep building after holding hostages for over four hours. Just moments before those images, Rogers and the District Attorney spoke over the phone. They negotiated Rogers would get 10 years in jail, and the hostages would stay safe.
Rogers explains why 10 years is the right amount of time.

"I would have to say it's enough to allow the world to grow, to build ideas that aren't already being built right now, allow me to understand more of humans, society to understand more of the legal system, our mental health system,” said Rogers. "Every social economic thing that we have established to better ourselves as civilization so that would give me the time to do so."
Rogers trial is set for June 13.
