Pedestrian Hit, Killed Near Del City

A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-40 late Tuesday night while police say he was trying to direct traffic around a previous accident.

Mark Leaton, 56 of Dalhart, Texas, was pronounced dead after being transported to OU Medical Center. Leaton suffered head, arm, leg, internal and trunk injuries in the accident that occurred less than half a mile west of Sooner Rd. in Del City.

The driver of the car, a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, was 22-year-old Joseph Wagaman of Del City. He was not injured.
