Norman Police: Armed Man Arrested Following Standoff

After hours of waiting, Norman police arrested an armed man who reportedly threatened to hurt himself and refused come outside of his home. 

According to police, at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a home near Post Oak Rd. and 48th Ave. where the man threatened to hurt himself and refused to leave his house.

At about 1:50 a.m. Thursday, a SWAT team also responded to the scene. 

Officers used a water canon to get the man out of the house. He was taken into custody at about 5:30 a.m. and is being evaluated.

No one was injured. Police have not identified the man at this time.
