With OU heading to the Final Four this weekend in Houston, many Sooner fans plan on making the trip.
Associate Vice President for Alumni Development J.P. Audas said travel packages to Houston are available to athletic donors, and men’s basketball season ticket holders.
Sooner Legends Inn and Suites co-owner Doug Kennon was an athletic trainer with OU’s Athletic Program when the Sooners played in the Final Four in Kansas City in 1988.
Kennon said he was also at OU’s last Final Four appearance in Atlanta back in 2002.
He said this time, Buddy Hield may just put OU over the top.
“It really ranks up there for me,” he said. “This one, there’s just something special. And Buddy just has so much charisma.”
Bentley Hedges said while his 46-year-old Oklahoma City travel agency isn’t offering any official travel packages to Houston, his people are happy to help any OU fans organize theirs.
“As good as this kid is, and he has no misfortune, they’ll probably take it this year,” Hedges grinned while talking about Buddy Hield and the Sooners from his office Monday afternoon.
