OKC Public Schools Superintendent Rob Neu To Resign

<p>Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Rob&nbsp;Neu is planning to step down, according to reports.</p>

Oklahoma City Public Schools Superintendent Rob Neu is planning to step down, according to an Oklahoma City Public Schools board member. 

Neu is in his second year as superintendent.  A special board meeting is scheduled for this Thursday to discuss his employment.

OKCPS is currently facing a $30-million budget hole. The shortfall has already led to the elimination of 208 teaching positions and 92 administrative positions.

News 9 political analyst and contributor Scott Mitchell says the report of Neu's resignation is premature.

OKCPS spokesman Mark Meyers confirms Neu has not yet turned in a letter of resignation. Myers released the following statement about Neu’s status:

"Currently there hasn’t been any formal resignation paperwork submitted by Mr. Neu. The OKC Board of Education is planning on holding a special meeting to address this topic on Thursday (04/14) at 5:30pm, the OKCPS Board Clerk is in the process of formally filing the meeting."

"For us it hadn't been a fit," said the President of the American Federation of Teachers, Ed Allen. "We didn’t think he was going to have staying power in this district, You know when you don’t move your family, you leave them on the West Coast that sends a big message you aren’t committed to the community,”

Allen sent the following letter to all Oklahoma City teachers regarding Neu’s tenure with the district:
