We’re still hearing calls for change in Seminole County about a dangerous traffic intersection. Residents told News 9, the State Highway 377 overpass that crosses I-40 at Exit 200 is a death trap.
Seminole County Commissioner Tommy Monks said between January of 2015 and January of 2016 there were 19 accidents at that location.
ODOT said it offered to spend up to $300,000 to install traffic lights at the intersection two years ago. However, ODOT said it won’t spend any money unless a county or other municipality agrees to maintain those stoplights.
Prague Mayor Cliff Bryant said that would amount to less than $300 a month.
Commissioner Monks said he’s open to discussing some sort of partnership to get it done.
“We’re always willing to listen about anything having to do with safety,” said Monks.
ODOT told News 9 that if an agreement isn’t reached within the year, ODOT will pull its offer to put up those stoplights.
