The westbound lanes of the Turner Turnpike at mile marker 140 are back open after emergency crews cleared the scene of a fatal collision Thursday morning.
The collision happened at about 4 a.m. At least one person is dead after a multiple-vehicle accident in which at least one driver was going in the wrong direction. The medical examiner is on the scene.
Two vehicles were involved, a Honda Accord and gray SUV. The driver of the Accord was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver of the SUV was going in the wrong direction.
Westbound Turner Turnpike was closed in the area for just over three hours. Traffic was being diverted at the Luther/Jones exit. Traffic was then moving south to Memorial and west to the metro, Rachel Calderon reports.
