Brooks coached the Thunder for seven seasons after taking over for P.J. Carlisemo, and accumulated a 338-207 overall record while leading OKC to a Western Conference Championship in 2012. Brooks was fired by the Thunder after last season when OKC went 45-37 and missed the playoffs. 

Some have brought up the idea that this could be a leverage hire for the Wizards, who will be looking to attract Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent this summer.
