A Carnegie woman is dead and two children are in critical condition after a head-on crash on State Highway 9 in Caddo County, Thursday evening.
Investigators have identified the victim as 49-year-old A-tha-mah Mary Lee Naunai. According to the report, Naunai was driving eastbound on SH9 around 6:42 p.m. at the time of the crash.
A 2000 Chevy pickup, driven by 24-year-old Derris Desahwn Larson of Moore, was headed westbound and crossed into Naunai’s lane, striking her 2007 Jeep SUV head on.
Naunai’s Jeep rolled once, ejecting her through the driver’s side window for an unknown distance. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Inside Naunai’s Jeep were two young boys, ages 7 and 6. Both boys were transported in critical condition by separate medical helicopters to OU Children’s Hospital in OKC.
Larson’s pickup partially rolled. The report states he refused medical treatment at the scene for an arm injury. His condition at the time of the crash is under investigation.
According to the report, Naunai was wearing a seatbelt and the two boys were in child restraints. Larson was not wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
