A road rage incident in Norman left one man seriously injured.

It happened in broad daylight around 4 p.m. Sunday and police said they are looking for three suspects.

Nick Dee has scars and stitches on his face with a purple, left eye. The victim said he was on his way home with his step-daughter when he saw the three young men out of control at a red light.

Dee said they were harassing a woman in another car by yelling obscenities and throwing items out of their pickup, so he honked at them to get them to stop.

When the light turned green, the suspects’ pulled up behind Dee at 24 Avenue NW and Robinson, got out and took a swing at his car with a small baseball bat.

“One came up on the passenger side, two came up on the driver side. I couldn’t go because cross traffic was too heavy,” Dee described.

Dee said at that point, he was worried about his step-daughter in the back seat. He didn’t want them to break in the windows or hurt her, so he got out of his own truck and locked the door behind him to protect her.

From there, it was there it was three against one.

Dee said at least two of the young men started clubbing him with the small baseball bat. He thinks it went on for a minute, to the point where he had no fight left in him.

“I looked him right in the eye and he just whacked me right in the face,” he said.

He is now blind in his right eye. Doctors say he may get his vision back, but it won’t be clear until next week.

The Norman Police Department said there were a number of witnesses, even one that sent in video of the incident just as it was ending. There are also detailed descriptions of the suspects who are all believed to be between 18 and 20 years old.

The driver is said to be a mixed race male between 175 and 185 pounds, about 6 feet 2 inches tall with medium length curly brown hair and tattoos.

One passenger is about 165 pounds, 6 feet tall with frosted blonde hair and braces.

The third suspect is just described as a white male.

If they are caught, the suspects will face felony charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Norman Police Department at 321-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 366-7867.
