Man Arrested After Breaking Into Church, Vehicle In Bethany

A man was arrested overnight after police say he broke into both a vehicle and a church in Bethany.

Police arrested the suspect inside Putnam City United Methodist Church at MacArthur & NW 41st after they say he broke in through a window. Prior to the arrest, police chased the man between the church and a nearby convenience store, even calling in a K-9 unit for assistance.

The suspect was taken to Deaconess Hospital after of the police dogs bit him for resisting arrest.

It wasn't until further investigation that police learned that the suspect also broke into a vehicle. Officers have been making hourly, close patrols in the area in recent weeks because of a local business that reported multiple burglaries.
