A State Capital worker turned sleuth helped nail an alleged burglar this week in Oklahoma City.

OHP Captain Paul Timmons confirmed that 22-year-old Mason Miller walked into an office in the State Capital on Monday, May 2, and stole an iPhone that belonged to a Capital legislative aide. That woman said she and a co-worker pinged her cell phone and confronted Miller a short time later, several blocks away from the Capital. However, Miller ran away.

OKC Police arrested Miller the following day after police said he tried to burglarize the Texadelphia restaurant in Bricktown.

The legislative aide, who wants to remain anonymous, also got her cellphone back.

“I’m glad they caught him. And I do think that the man may have some mental issues.”

She got her phone back, because this past Monday, it turned up in the lobby of the Aloft Hotel in Deep Deuce.  She said Miller had used her cellphone to logon to Facebook. And he incriminated himself more by confessing to a Facebook “Friend” that he had recently stolen a car as well.

Miller is in the Oklahoma County Jail for 2nd Degree Burglary. Capt. Timmons said he’ll be charged next week with Larceny as well.
