Neighbors living near the 8200 block of Piedmont Road said they’ve seen plenty of uncommon things.
But one homeowner said he never expected to find a pistol in his yard.
He was more shocked by what he found next.
“(It was) what he believed to be a bone in the pasture in his property. He called for police,” Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
It didn’t take long for police and the medical examiner’s office to show up after that.
They spread out across Piedmont Road and searched for any and everything related to the supposed human remains.
Neighbors in the area said they believe animals got to the body and scattered the remains.
Throughout the course of the investigation, residents nearby said police uncovered a bicycle and a backpack.
“That’s something our investigators will be looking at, seeing if someone from the homeless persons' camp died out here," Knight said.
Police are not calling this a suspicious death.
