An Oklahoma City police officer shot a dog in southwest Oklahoma City, police said.

About 3:15 p.m. Saturday, officers went to the 2500 block of Texoma Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance, police said. When officers approached the house, a dog jumped out a vehicle in the driveway and chased police.

An officer, who deemed the dog as aggressive, shot one round at the dog which hit the animal. The dog ran away and was found a block away by Oklahoma City animal control.

The dog is now in animal control's care.

The name of the officer was not released.
