One person was killed and another one injured in a two-vehicle collision involving a Bobtail truck carrying methanol Monday morning in Oklahoma City.
According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, just before 7 a.m. crews responded to the collision involving a Bobtail truck transporting 1000 gallons of methanol, and a Ford Expedition SUV in the 2500 block of S. Council. Council is closed between S.W. 15th and S.W. 29th.
Police told News 9 that the SUV was going southbound on Council when it swerved and crossed the center line for an unknown reason. It then crashed head-on into the bobtail truck going northbound on Council.
Authorities said the driver of the SUV, 32-year-old Stacey James Owen, was ejected during the collision and killed. The driver of the truck has been transported to the hospital, but was reportedly not seriously injured.
The fuel tank of the bobtail truck reportedly holds 110 gallons of diesel and was slowly leaking (pinhole leak.) Crews on scene built a dam to contain the leaking diesel. A hazmat crew also responded.
