Terry Haney puts more than 40 hours of his own time volunteering for Honoring America's Warriors each week.
He said helping veterans is the only job that can bring him joy after his dream of a lifelong career in the military was cut short.
“It’s our duty,” he said. “We’ve got to take care of each other.”
Honoring America's Warriors helps provide service dogs to veterans, supports them as they navigate the VA system, and keeps them busy with events.
But most importantly, every day is Memorial Day for the organization.
Any time a family wants more than the legislated two man flag fold, Honoring America's Warriors veteran volunteers render full honors at funerals.
“They may be gone, but they’ll never be forgotten. We’ve all lost friends overseas and then you lose them at home to suicide, so it’s a big issue. You know to remember their name, that they didn’t fight for nothing and they didn’t go down in vain,” Haney explained.
