A drug raid in close range of a high school football field put one man behind bars.
It happened in Purcell, and police officer body camera video showed police move in on the suspect. It happened just feet from the Purcell High School football field and little league ball fields Thursday.
Video shows officers zeroing in on a home they visited just the day before. They believed drugs were being distributed from the residence.
"Police department search warrant. Come out of the basement,” officers said. "We're coming in!"
"There was some concerns in reference to small children being in the residence,” Purcell Police Lt. Kevin Austin said. “So, we were able to use a ruse to bring the children out of the house, talking with a non-uniformed investigator."
Once the children were out of the house, police made their way inside where they found drugs and evidence that someone was buying or selling narcotics.
"There were actually log books of names of individuals and approximate prices,” said Austin.
Billy Claunch was taken into custody and is now facing several charges.
"We're working very diligently to keep this off of our streets and away from our kids,” said Austin.
