UPDATE: Oklahoma City police said it turns out the woman was not assaulted. She reportedly was huffing and jumped out of a moving vehicle and got injured. She then asked a man to take her to her friend's house instead of going to the hospital, because she hates hospitals. The woman is not in good shape. Police said they are not looking for a suspect in light of the circumstances.

Oklahoma City police are searching for the person or the people responsible for an assault on an Oklahoma City woman.

Police are not releasing the woman's name yet, but said she was taken to a local hospital.

Friends and family members identify her as Elizabeth Ayala, 30, of Oklahoma City, and said they can't understand why anyone would want to hurt her.

"It's sickening," said Judith Costilo. Costilo is a friend.

She said she is one of the first people who saw Ayala before she was rushed to the hospital, and she can't believe someone just dumped her on the driveway.

"I reached in as she was laying down and touched her leg and said Elizabeth? And she was unresponsive," said Costilo.

Costilo said Ayala would often stay at a home in the 700 block of SE 34 Street, but she hadn't been there in more than a month.

Then, she was discovered Tuesday morning, lying unconscious in the driveway.

Officers say the woman was assaulted and now, they are trying to find who dumped her along the driveway.

Friends and neighbors aren't saying much, only that Ayala did have a problem with drugs but was trying to get clean.

They said she was also trying to distance herself from an abusive relationship.

"Elizabeth had a hard life," said Costilo. "But she was very sweet and smart and funny, and had hopes and dreams for a better life."

Ayala's brother said he did get to see her in the hospital and that she is stable for now, but she is on a breathing tube right now and is being transferred to another hospital for further care.

They just want police to catch whoever did this.
