The May Avenue bridge over NW Expressway in Oklahoma City, will reportedly reopen to traffic by mid-July.
It closed three weeks ago when it was hit by a truck. NW Expressway and May Avenue is one of the busiest intersections the metro. An estimated 60,000 cars travel through there every day.
Published reports said the May Avenue bridge will reopen to normal traffic by mid-July. Back on May 19, a truck hauling a boom lift hit the bridge, causing most of the bridge to crumble on to Northwest Expressway.
Although the damage was significant, engineers determined it could still be repaired.
As crews do those repairs, NW Expressway will be open to two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes. May Avenue will be open to two-way traffic in the southbound lanes, but may close for short periods of time.
The repairs are scheduled to start June 20 at an estimated cost of $550,000. The city is hoping to be reimbursed for those costs.
