Suspect In Custody After Standoff At Norman Home

The suspect involved in a standoff situation in Norman is in protective custody, authorities say.

Norman Police and SWAT were called to a disturbance call around 4:45 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Coopers Hawk Dr., near Highway 9 and 12th Ave. SE. The situation then turned into a welfare check and at some point while responding, a man barricaded himself inside the home.

Police now say the man, who has yet to be identified, is in protective custody after surrendering just before 7 p.m.
