Oklahoma City police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person caught on surveillance camera, pawning some items from a home invasion and robbery in northeast Oklahoma City.

One evening last week, James Gwatney said he was playing video games and drinking when he noticed a white Ford hatchback in the driveway of this home near NE 26 and Martin Luther King Avenue.

When he got up to go check it out, he said the man and woman in it had already made it to his door. They said they came right in, told him to get down on the ground and pointed what he thought was a large caliber revolver.

“That thing was huge,” he said.

He said he played by their rules and stayed on the floor, but according to the police report he asked the suspects “if he could finish his drink” while they took his 60-inch television and PlayStation console.

Gwatney said it all happened so fast, but it was enough to shake him up.

“It was really traumatizing,” he said. “I don’t just feel safe as much as I did.”

On Wednesday, police released surveillance photos of the man they said was involved.

Investigators said the images show him pawning some of the items taken in the robbery.

Until the man is identified and the case moves forward, Gwatney said he'll be on guard after such a surreal experience.

“It would’ve been instant with that trigger. Everything would’ve went black. Just blacked out. Boom. You know, it would’ve been over,” he said about realizing the magnitude of what could’ve happened.

If you have any information about the man in the surveillance images or the other woman believed to be involved, call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
