Gunshots interrupted the calm Saturday night in southeast Oklahoma City.
Uneasy neighbors didn't want their faces seen but wanted their voices heard.
Officers say they responded to reports of a drive-by shooting and quickly setup a large crime scene near SE 51 Street and Sunnylane Road.
“It looked like the 'First 48.' There was (sic) lights everywhere, (and) about 12 police officers just walking up and down the street,” one witness said
Police confirm the victim, an 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
One of the victim’s friends said she was in the neighborhood following a memorial service.
He told News 9 the already sad day was made worse by what some describe as senseless violence, on a scale the community isn't used to.
The victim's friend saw her in the hospital Sunday and said she's doing well despite her injuries.
“I just gave her a kiss and cried, and I just told her I was happy she made it and I can’t wait till she gets well we went and gave her some balloons and stuff," he said.
Police say they are looking for a brown Chevy Tahoe in connection with the case.
