Wednesday, I supported the police union's request to let Oklahoma City officers carry their own rifles because the department doesn't have enough to go around.
Oklahoma City's police chief had a change of heart and agreed after Sunday's ambush of police in Baton Rouge.
Here's what you had to say about it:
Patrick first, "Don't ask our brave men and women to go fight the criminals, when the criminals are far better armed than our police. They should have done this long before now, but it's a great 1st step!!"
Larry from Beaver writes, "Oklahoma expects teachers to buy pencils to fight ignorance! Why not expect police to buy their own rifles to fight crime! OK, that's just stupid!"
And Shawnda adds, "If I had enough money, I would supply the entire police force in Oklahoma with rifles."
Forest says, "they need to agree that officers should utilize body cameras. Increased rights require increased responsibility and oversight."
They will, once the guidelines are agreed to.
Tim from Meeker likes the idea and said, "I know some officers that modify their rifles to their liking. Also they use their own rifle to qualify with."
Finally, a lot of responses like this from Beth in Harrah, "Whatever keeps them safe, God Speed men and women of the blue. I pray for you."
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
