For those looking for a new place to train, it appears the newest basketball venture in Edmond is wrapping up construction.
Solid Rock, a gym that’s big enough for four full-size basketball courts, is set to open up on Sept. 12. The 32,000-square foot facility will have 20 different goals hanging around the gym, and will offer leagues and skills training for players in grades K-12.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve been playing for 10 years, or this is your first opportunity, we have a program and a skill level that fits you,” part owner and former OU basketball player Craig Wiginton said.
Wiginton’s wife, Joanna, was also a very good basketball player at Southern Nazarene.
“Most of all I’m excited to see each and every face, adult or child, come through this door and be touched in a positive way,” JoAnna Wiginton said.
Both Craig and JoAnna will be helped out by partner and former Oklahoma Christian sharpshooter Brandon Troutman.
“I had private coaches who invested in me and poured a lot of passion and energy into me as a young player. Knowing what they did for me has given me a lot of desire to give that back,” Troutman said.
Training at Solid Rock will help develop your game, but it’s clear the Wiginton’s want to make sure you become a better teammate and person as well.
