Hard to believe, but Monday was the first day back to school for Oklahoma City Public Schools.

The early start is due to the district's continuous learning school calendar, but Superintendent Aurora Lora said they will be looking into if year-round school is working.

Lora said this fall, she and other administrators will be looking at the year-round calendar and whether it would save the district money to go back to the traditional calendar.

They are also looking into the academic impact since they started the year-round calendar five years ago.

“So we’re going to look at all that data and go back to the community to see if this is something we want to continue with or if we want to move on, or move back, to a traditional calendar moving forward,” she said.

Earlier this year, Tulsa Public Schools decided to stop using the continuous learning calendar after saying it didn't produce the desired results.
