OU starts its fall semester August 22, but some incoming Engineering students have already been hard at it for a solid month.

Forty-one incoming OU Freshmen have been taking coursework in Chemistry and Math. They have also been working in teams on a project related to something called “Rube Goldberg”.

OU Program Director Crystal Garcia explained, “Rube Goldberg is kind of notorious for creating these contraptions that will have an end goal, which is really a simple task. Today, it is to stick a band-aid onto something. And our students have to create 15 different steps to make it happen.”

Olivia Smith is a 2016 Southmoore High School graduate who wants to be a computer engineer. “You learn a lot of the things you are going to need to know in the fall,” she said.
