A woman was arrested on multiple complaints, including assault and driving under the influence (DUI,) after a wild ride near Lake Overholser.

According to Oklahoma City police, just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, officers responded to numerous reports of a woman driving recklessly at the Route 66 Park along the shores of Lake Overholser. The callers reported that the driver tried to ram numerous vehicles, running other vehicles off of the roadway and almost wrecking into several others.

Officers arrived and saw the suspect, 29-year-old Xiomara Esmeralda Ramirez, driving southbound on County Line Rd. She was following another driver so closely that her vehicle almost hit it. Police said she was also driving erratically, swerving in and out of her lane, straddling lane lines, and driving in the wrong lane of travel to pass other vehicles. Her car nearly struck numerous other vehicles before being stopped by police.

When the officer asked Ramirez to step out of her car, Ramirez reportedly began cussing and screaming at the officer. She would not comply with verbal commands, and even tried to put the car in "drive" in an attempt to leave the scene, according to police.

Officers said Ramirez’s eyes were red, blood-shot and watery, and her speech was slurred. They noticed an odor of alcohol on Ramirez’s breath and person. She showed signs of intoxication.

Officers had to help Ramirez out of her vehicle, because she was unable to stand up on her own and fell to the ground.

Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple complaints, including four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol after a former conviction, driving under revocation, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to keep right of center, straddling lane lines, and following too close. Police said her driver's license was revoked, and she has two previous DUI convictions in Cleveland County.
