Online Child Sex Sting Lands Pennsylvania Man Behind Bars

A Pennsylvania man in town for business is behind bars in Canadian County, facing a complaint of Lewd Acts with a Child.

Kevin Smith, 38, was arrested on Aug. 11 after an undercover officer responded to a Craigslist ad Smith had posted, which stated he was looking for someone to have sex with before leaving town.

The undercover officer responded to the ad and claimed to be a 14-year-old girl from Mustang. According to investigators, after a sexually explicit conversation with Smith, in which he allegedly sent the officer a picture of his genitals, investigators traveled to the hotel to make the arrest.  

“According to Smith’s own admissions, this wasn’t his first time to set up sexual encounters using the internet. He told investigators he had been caught doing the same thing by his wife in the past,” said Canadian County Undersheriff, Chris West.

Smith was booked into the Canadian County Jail on one count of Lewd Acts with a Child. His bond was set at $50,000.
