A group of preschoolers from Primrose Elementary in northwest Oklahoma City are making a big dent in the fight against hunger.
Teachers said the students have been learning about thankfulness all month. The students were encouraged to do chores at home to earn money to put towards the classroom shopping budget. Their money racked up a donation of more than 1,200 pounds of food to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
"We had to use two of our school buses and one of our teacher's trucks,” said Elizabeth Barth, Director of Primrose School. "They were pretty full. The whole back of them filled."
Around 36 students helped contribute to the project. School officials said the lesson in giving is something they try to teach each year.
