One Dead, One Injured In Motorcycle Crash Near Purcell

One person is dead and another is in the hospital Sunday following a motorcycle crash in McClain County. 

The single-vehicle crash occurred about 11:45 a.m. on Interstate 35 near Purcell.

According to OHP,  the driver of the motorcycle died of injuries sustained in the crash, and a passenger was taken via medical helicopter to a local hospital.

The driver was identified as 65-year-old Van Hawkins, of Arlington, Texas. The passenger was identified as Johnnitha Hawkins, 52, of Arlington, Texas.

Crews shutdown northbound lanes of I-35 for almost an hour and a half to clear the scene. 

Troopers said the cause of the crash was unsafe vehicle/tires.
