Russell Westbrook’s re-signing announcement Friday has Oklahoma City Thunder fans giddy.
His penning of a long-term contract coincides with the release of brand-new Thunder merchandise at the Thunder team shop on the west side of Chesapeake Energy Arena. It also comes on the same day as Kevin Durant’s birthday.
Thunder superfan John “Thunder Boy Wonder” Bling greeted fans as they entered the team shop Friday afternoon.
“Man, I’m bouncing right now! I’m on another level! I was just running down the street a while ago talking about Russell Westbrook and the police pulls me over and asks me if I’m alright!”
Thunder fan Sonja Lee bought herself a new Russell Westbrook jersey to celebrate her own birthday, which was Thursday. She also says she purchased a few tickets to key upcoming games.
“Of course,” she said, "I got that Golden State. I got that home game for the Rockets on Christmas Day and I am looking forward to them showing up and showing out!"
The news of course took social media by storm on a sleepy Friday afternoon. Here's the best reactions we could find.
